  • Condition: This set is clean, functional, but has some scrapes, markings and rust on all four weights - check out the photos! Has no impact on function, but the scrapes are certainly visible. The markings on the paint are harder to see in the photos, but in the right light you can easily see them. The rust is mainly on the inside where it screws on, but as you can see, there's some on the lip as well. Also, the box itself is dinged and worn, but still solid and structurally sound, with the complete styrofoam to hold the weights. Examine the photos, judge for yourself. I tried to take a series of detailed images in good resolution so you can clearly see.

    Vintage American Athletic AMF Heavy Hands Set of Four 3lb Aerobic Weights USA Made
    One caveat, there are 4 weights in the set, meant to be used on heavy hands dumbbells.  If you have the hand-grip dumbbells (not included here), those weigh 1 pound each, two of these weights per dumbbell means that your total weight per dumbbell (including dumbbell) will be 3 pounds.
    To Clarify:
    The entire Boxed set, INCLUDING THE BOX - 4lb 5.8oz
    One Single Weight - 1lb .5oz
    Two Weights - 2lb .9oz
    All Four Weights - 4lb 1.8oz
    Two 2lb weights plus one 1lb dumbbell (again, dumbbell not included) equals 3 pounds per dumbbell.
    Their nomenclature is a bit weird, but it's telling you how much weight each hand will actually be holding.
    A BIT OF HISTORY:
    HeavyHands was created in the 80's by Leonard Schwartz.  His method brought the entire body into play with walking, dancing, aerobics-style movements, with a focus on fully involving the entire upper body, not just the lower.
    HeavyHands claim to work the whole body, build strength and cardio, improve cardiovascular health, be low impact, reduce fat and improve body composition.
    If you're not sure this is a workable idea, check out the video below, showing Doc Schwartz at an advanced age, still "heavyhanding".  Note his physique!!  The moves may look a little silly, but the results are incredible.
    Just be sure to read a book, find a guide, watch a youtube video - to work properly HeavyHands requires much more than just carrying them while you walk.
